When did you join ProRisk? What were you doing beforehand?
I joined ProRisk in May 2017 – it’s hard to believe it has already been more than three years! I am a qualified solicitor and I spent over four years in private practice before moving to ProRisk, acting for allied health practitioners, public and private hospitals, and their insurers.

What’s your role at ProRisk and what does a typical day look like for you?
I am the Claims Team Leader at ProRisk. There is honestly no typical day in claims and that is one of the things that I love about my job. You need to be ready for anything. It’s not uncommon to drop everything because an urgent new claim is notified. Time management and flexibility are essential!

What drives you to do the best you can?
I am motivated to help our clients and get the best possible outcome for them. My area of expertise is in Medical Malpractice and Professional Indemnity claims. I understand it can be stressful to have a claim made against you, so I try to put myself in the client’s shoes. How would I feel if someone made a claim about me as a professional? How would I want to be treated and have my claim handled? That’s what drives me to do the best I can at work.

In your opinion, what makes ProRisk special or unique in comparison to other underwriting agencies?
Definitely our culture, it’s something we are very proud of. I love that we celebrate each other’s wins and how closely Claims & Underwriting work together. There is a lot of respect and appreciation for what each person brings to the business. I’m really excited about where the business is heading, especially with the launch of our new online trading platform, ProBind, and the suite of new products being launched, especially our Management Liability products.

What’s something you’ve had to adapt to or learn how to do different due to COVID-19?
I am a people person and so I enjoy working in the office with my colleagues. It has been hard being home by myself every day and not having that interaction, so I have appreciated every phone call and Zoom meeting! I’m looking forward to the day we can return to the office and see each other in person.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I absolutely love musical theatre. I grew up dancing and doing musical theatre and am lucky to have a family who supported that passion. I’ve been going to the theatre since I was little and I’ve lost count of the number musicals I have seen over the years. I try to see every musical that comes to Melbourne, and while I appreciate the number of shows I do get to see here, I would live in New York or London if I could just go to the theatre all the time!
